Recipes

Everything about recipe management in Cucinovo — fields, portions, views, and plan features.

Overview

Recipes are the core of Cucinovo. Every recipe has a name, a category, output portions, a list of ingredients with quantities, and optional sub-recipes. You can also set a selling price, prep time, and notes.

Cucinovo supports two recipe types:

  • Recipe — a standalone dish or menu item (e.g., Margherita Pizza, Chicken Curry).
  • Sub-Recipe — a reusable component used inside other recipes (e.g., Pizza Dough, Béchamel Sauce). Sub-recipes have their own section in the sidebar.

When you add ingredients to a recipe, Cucinovo calculates the total cost and cost per portion automatically based on ingredient prices.

Recipe Fields

Here is what each field on the recipe form does:

  • Name — the recipe name. Must be at least 2 characters. This is how you will find it in search and lists.
  • Category — required. Choose from your existing categories (e.g., Appetizers, Main Courses, Desserts). Create categories in the Categories section first.
  • Output — defines what one batch of this recipe produces. Enter a quantity and unit, like 4 pc (4 servings) or 500 g (500 grams of product).
  • Selling Price — optional. If set, Cucinovo calculates the food cost percentage and shows a margin indicator.
  • Prep Time — optional. Used for labor costing on the Pro plan. Enter the time in minutes.
  • Notes — optional. Hidden under Advanced Options in the recipe form. Use it for plating instructions, chef notes, or any extra details.

Understanding Portions

The Output field defines what one batch of the recipe produces. This is the foundation for cost-per-portion calculations and shopping list scaling.

  • 4 pc — the recipe makes 4 servings. Cost per portion = total cost / 4.
  • 500 g — the recipe makes 500 grams of product. Cost per portion = total cost / 500 (per gram).
  • 1 L — the recipe makes 1 liter. Useful for sauces, soups, and stocks.

When you add this recipe to a shopping list and set the number of portions, Cucinovo multiplies or divides all ingredient quantities proportionally.

Recipe Views

The Recipes page shows all your recipes with support for searching, filtering, and bulk actions.

  • Search — use the search bar to find recipes by name.
  • Filter by category — narrow the list to a specific category using the category filter dropdown.
  • Bulk select — check multiple recipes to create a shopping list from all of them at once.
