Import & Export Ingredients

Pro

Bulk import ingredients from CSV or Excel files and export your ingredient list for backup or sharing.

Overview

Instead of adding ingredients one by one, you can bulk import them from a CSV or Excel file. This is especially useful when setting up a new organization or migrating from another system.

You can also export your full ingredient list for backup, sharing with colleagues, or analysis in a spreadsheet.

Importing Ingredients

1
Open the import dialog

Go to the Ingredients page and click the Import button in the top-right area.

2
Upload your file

Upload a CSV, TSV, or Excel (.xlsx) file containing your ingredient data.

3
Map columns to fields

Map each column in your file to a Cucinovo field: Name, Unit Price, Currency, Display Unit, Supplier, Allergens, and Tags.

4
Review the preview

Cucinovo shows a preview of the data that will be imported. Rows with errors are highlighted in red. Fix any issues in your file and re-upload, or skip problematic rows.

5
Handle duplicates

If an ingredient with the same name already exists, choose how to handle it: skip (keep existing), overwrite (replace with imported data), or rename (add a suffix to the new ingredient).

6
Confirm import

Click Import to finalize. You will see a summary of how many ingredients were created, updated, or skipped.

CSV Format

Your CSV file should include the following columns. Only Name is required — all other columns are optional.

  • Name — ingredient name (required)
  • Unit Price — numeric price value (e.g., 2.50)
  • Price Unit — the unit the price refers to (e.g., kg, L, pc)
  • Currency — ISO currency code (e.g., EUR, USD, GBP)
  • Display Unit — preferred display unit (kg, g, L, ml, pc)
  • Supplier Name — supplier for this ingredient
  • Supplier SKU — supplier's product code
  • Tags — semicolon-separated tags (e.g., baking;staple)
  • Allergens — semicolon-separated allergen names (e.g., gluten;dairy)
Example Row

Flour,2.50,kg,EUR,kg,Mill Co,FL-001,baking;staple,gluten

Exporting Ingredients

Click the Export button on the Ingredients page. Choose between CSV or Excel format.

The export includes all ingredients with their current prices, allergens, supplier information, and categories. Use exports for backups, sharing with team members, or importing into other tools.
